Applying for a Floyd County Marriage License
Floyd County marriage licenses may be issued to couples when at least one party is a resident of Floyd County. Both applicants must appear together in person at the clerk's office. You cannot send someone in your place. The clerk will not process an application with only one person present.
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID that shows your date of birth and your current address. A driver's license works. A passport or military ID is also accepted. Both parties must show ID when they appear. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Those who are 17 may apply with parent consent. Anyone under 17 must have a court petition. Indiana no longer requires a blood test before marriage. That requirement was eliminated under state law.
The fee for Floyd County residents is $29. Out-of-state applicants pay $69. Cash only is accepted. The clerk's office does not take checks or cards. The license is issued the same day and stays valid for 60 days. Indiana Code Title 31, Article 11 at iga.in.gov governs marriage license requirements across the state.
